Sam Presti is the golden boy of the NBA. Other head offices are already head hunting for him so the idiot's have to ask "is he really that good?" We look at Presti's 10 most significant moves as the Sonics/Thunder GM and rate them on a scale of: The Good, The Bad, and The Lucky. We also dive back into "What Up With That?" Where we look at Lebron's shoe tour, Finals game 1, Turkoglu and much more. This episode went WAY long so look for part 2 next week where we evaluate Presti's draft choices as our GM.TGR #4: Reviewing Sam Presti (The Good, The Bad, The Lucky)

Wilcox was with Detroit last season.
Presti is a freaking genius. Here is a trade you guys didn't mention.
Petro for Chucky Atkins. Straight up, not a big trade. But Denver sent us a 1st round pick in the deal. We traded that 1st round pick for Thabo Sefolosha.
But it gets better. In the Summer of 09, we ship Atkins' non-guaranteed contract to Minny for Etan Thomas' expiring contract and two 2nd round picks in the 2010 draft.
So for Petro we got Thabo, the 2010 32nd and 51st draft picks. Plus a little cap space to boot.
Oh yeah, Wilcox and Joe Smith was included in the Chandler trade. Once the trade fell apart Presti had to ship Wilcox out to someone to save face. he also bought out Smith. But as you mentioned the Wilcox move was essentially about money, but given the circumstance I think it was a good trade.
Sorry. You're right. Wilcox is in Detroit. He only played about 30 games at 13 mpg. Not what I (Joel) thought his career would turn into. Great point about the Petro-Thabo evolution!
Livingston never developed due to the horrific injury he suffered with the Clippers. We took a flyer and he never really looked to be 100%, I don't think he ever really looked 80%. The Maynor trade should be considered an even better move when you consider we had just lost Kevin Ollie and Kyle Weaver to injury and really had no one backing Westbrook up at the point when we got him.
All good points. It will take a while for it to fully sink in how good of a move the Maynor trade was. A good backup PG is a big key in this league. If the PG play drops off significantly when the starter exits, so does the rest of the teams efficiency.
